Victory Junction Gang Camp
The Victory Junction Gang Camp opened in the summer of 2004. The camp serves sick children between the ages of 7 and 15 with various health problems and chronic medical conditions . The camp was built by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Patty in honor of their son Adam who was killed in an accident at
New Hampshire Motor Speedway
while practicing for a race in May of 2000. The camp is located in Randleman North Carolina on 72 acres of land that was donated by Adam's grandparents Richard Petty and his wife Linda. The camp has a racing theme with many buildings named after the drivers, teams and sponsors of NASCAR. These include the Goody's Body Shop medical center, Adam's Race Shop, Hendrick Motorsports Fuel Stop dinning hall, the Home Depot Tree House and the Jimmie Johnson Victory Lanes Bowling Alley. There are many people that just do not realize all that the NASCAR community does for these children. The NASCAR community donates time and money to this worthy cause. It costs $2500 for a child to spend a week at this camp yet thanks to all the generous donations these children stay completely free and that includes their medical care throughout their visit. The camp can accommodate 125 children for week long stays during the summer and the rest of the year 32 families for weekend sessions. These children suffer with various illnesses and the camps at Victory Junction help to teach the children about their conditions and how to deal with them. The Victory Junction Camp benefits tremendously from the NASCAR community's generosity so that sick children of all ages can come here and forget the worry and the pain and truly have a good time.
