Phoenix International Raceway: The Desert Jewel
The Phoenix International Raceway is an unusual racetrack with many odd characteristics that make it a unique stop on the NASCAR circuit. Between the heat, the snakes and the unusual shape of the trac

Jamie McMurray Wins The Daytona 500
Jamie McMurray won the Daytona 500 with a push from Dale Earnhardt Jr. to win his first race with his new team.
Near the end of last season McMurray didn't even know if he had a job after Roush Fenway had to downsize to four teams per NASCAR rules.
Ironically it was his former teammate Greg Biffle who pushed him to the lead while Dale Jr. pushed him across the finish line in the end.

Martinsville Speedway
The Martinsville Speedway is NASCAR's oldest and smallest track but that doesn't mean its not the best. In fact you could argue that NASCAR has been racing at Martinsville Speedway for so long

Kevin Harvick Wins Second Straight Shootout
Kevin Harvick overcame the flu to win his second straight Bud Shootout. Harvick became only the 4th driver in NASCAR history to win back to back Shootouts. Tony Stewart (2001,2002) is the only other active driver to due so.
Harvick was to sick to practice the car on Thursday so his teammate Clint Bowyer drove the car but was involved in a wreck.
Harvick's other teammate Jeff Burton drove the backup car in practice.
Harvick jumped into the car and drove it to victory lane without ever turning a lap in the car before the race.

What If Jimmie Johnson Wins The Chase
Would it be good for NASCAR if Jimmie Johnson wins the Championship for the fourth year in a row? Probably not but it would be GREAT for Jimmie!
I think Jimmie Johnson will go down in NASCAR history as one of its greatest drivers even if he doesn't win four in a row. But four in a row will definitely make a strong case for that.
As long as Jimmie Johnson stays with crew chief Chad Knaus, there is no limits to what they can accomplish.

Why It Would Be Good If Mark Martin Wins The Chase
If Mark Martin wins the chase it would be good for NASCAR because Martin is 50 years old and it would prove that NASCAR is not just a sport for the young guns.

Who Will Win NASCAR's Chase For The Sprint Cup
The field is set for the NASCAR's 2009 Chase for the Sprint Cup. Twelve drivers have a chance to win NASCAR's version of the playoffs.
Each driver has a compelling story if they win, whether it is Mark Martin's age or Jimmie Johnson going for 4 championships in a row. Whoever wins it should be exciting.

Sharpie 500 Race Preview
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series head to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Sharpie 500.
'Concrete' Carl Edwards is a good pick to win. He won the last two August races and he usually runs well on concrete.
Another good pick is Jimmie Johnson. Even though he has never won at Bristol he probably will win there someday, why not Saturday?
My dark horse pick is Kevin Harvick. He has one win and usually runs well at the track and it could be a bright spot in an otherwise miserable season.

Carfax 400 Race Preview
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway this weekend for the Carfax 400.
Roush Fenway drivers usually do well and this time look for Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth to run well. Kenseth is also starting 25th, a position that he usually wins from.
Brian Vickers is starting on the pole and he could be a dark horse contender to win if he stays up front and out of trouble.
Hendrick drivers Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson could win. Martin won the spring race an has five career wins at Michigan.
Even though Johnson has never won at Michigan, he is still a threat to win.

Watkins Glen Race Preview
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to the second road course of the season at Watkins Glen International.
Look for the usual suspects like Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart to contend for the win.
Another usual suspect to watch out for is Jimmie Johnson. Not because he has ever won on a road course but because his road course racing has improved and he starts on the pole, plus you can't ever count the 48 team out.
But my pick for the win is Marcose Ambrose.

Jimmie Johnson Wins At The Brickyard
Jimmie Johnson passed his teammate Mark Martin on the restart with 23 laps to go and held him off to win at the Brickyard.
Juan Pablo Montoya dominated the race but a pit-road speeding penalty ruined his day. He finished 11th.
For Johnson it was his third win of the season and his 43 career win.

Mark Martin Wins The Lifelock.com 400
Mark Martin managed to survive a couple of double file restarts and win the LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.
Martin takes home his fourth win of the season and his 39th career win.
The victory moved Martin up two spots in the standings to eleventh and into contention to make the 'Chase', with just seven races to go before the Chase begins.

LifeLock.com 400 Race Preview
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Chicagoland Speedway Saturday.
Even though Kevin Harvick has two wins and the best average finish at Chicagoland don't look for him in victory lane since his team has struggled all year.
Instead look for Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson to do well.
Tony Stewart and Mark Martin are a couple of veterans who run well at the track and are running well this season so they will be factors.

Coke Zero 400 Preview
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Daytona this weekend for a Saturday night race under the lights.
Last year Kyle Busch dominated this race. He won after leading 86 laps.
This year I think the Hendrick Motorsports teams will do well.
During the Daytona 500 earlier this year Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin had the cars to beat but the race was shortened to 152 laps by rain.
Look for Jeff Gordon Mark Martin and yes even Dale Earnhardt Jr. to do well on Saturday night!

Lenox Industrial Tools 301 Race Preview
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series moves up north to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The race includes an extra lap for added value :)
Drivers to watch for include Denny Hamlin, JimmieJohnson and Ryan Newman.
But I think Tony Stewart will win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He is coming off of a second place finish at Infineon Raceway, a win at Pocono Raceway, he also has two wins at the track and he is leading the points so I think Tony will win this weekend.
